Our educational programmes for young people aged 19-25, with an EHCP, offer personalised study routes to employment. Learners are able to experience a mixture of work experiences in our café and chocolate factory as well as with external organisations. These real-life experiences are supplemented by core, class-based learning in functional skills and employability.
Our core session activities and learning content are built around the top 5 industry areas in Harrogate and may change on an annual basis to reflect local need.
Subject areas such as exercise, PSHE, cooking and travel training are also timetabled to align with personal EHCP outcomes.
Job coaches are critical to the success of our educational programmes. They provide in-work support to learners which over time tapers off as the they become more confident in the work place. Our job coaches also provide support to employers, increasing their confidence in working with young people with learning disabilities and/or autism and helping them to understand the business case for employing a diverse workforce.
