Festive Fun at Harrogate Skills for Living!

16 December 2025

December has been full of Christmas cheer here at Harrogate Skills for Living, with lots of fun, creativity and togetherness as we’ve celebrated the festive season.

One of the highlights this month has been getting busy in the kitchen making delicious mince pies. Everyone enjoyed learning new baking skills, measuring ingredients, rolling pastry and, of course, tasting the finished results! The smell of freshly baked mince pies really helped get us all into the Christmas spirit.

As the weather turned colder, we spent time making hearty winter soups. These sessions were a great opportunity to practice chopping, stirring and safe cooking skills, while also talking about healthy choices and seasonal foods. Sitting down together to enjoy our warm soups was a lovely way to relax and chat. We have also enjoyed some festive days out in the community including the Christmas Market in Harrogate and the Christmas tree festival and St Peter's Church.

Creativity has been flowing with lots of Christmas crafts taking place throughout December. We’ve made beautiful handmade decorations, cards and festive displays to brighten up our spaces. From glitter and paint to cutting and sticking, everyone took pride in creating something unique to take home or share with loved ones.

No Christmas would be complete without music, and we’ve had plenty of festive singing! From classic carols to favourite Christmas songs, singing together brought lots of smiles and laughter.. It’s been wonderful to see everyone joining in and enjoying the shared experience.

Thank you to everyone who has made this such a special time. We’re looking forward to the new year, but for now, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
