November has been a wonderfully busy month for our learners here at Harrogate Skills for Living! As the days grow colder and the evenings draw in, our groups have been filling their time with colourful crafts, homemade cooking, and plenty of fresh-air adventures.
To celebrate the sparkle of Bonfire Night, learners got creative with a range of firework-themed crafts. Using bright paints, glitter, and a mix of textures, they designed 3D firework and sparkly exploding firework patterns that lit up our classroom walls. The activity was a great chance for everyone to explore colour, movement, and expression — and the results were absolutely bursting with energy!
In the lead-up to Remembrance Day, learners also took time to create thoughtful poppy crafts. Working with tissue paper, card, and recycled materials, they produced beautiful poppies that helped us reflect on remembrance, respect, and the importance of honouring those who served.
Our Out and About group have been making the most of the crisp autumn weather with visits to Harrogate’s stunning Valley Gardens, Knaresborough Castle Grounds and The Mercer Art Gallery so far this month!
Learners have also been busy cooking up lots of autumnal recipes and sweet treats, laying down some beats and vocals in our rhythm rebels sessions and having fun in the games club with card games, jigsaws and a few competitive games of darts.
Everyone is looking forward to the festive season and we can't wait to share photos with your from our parties and christmassy sessions next month.
