Social Enterprise Yorkshire and the Humber 2023 Awards

12 March 2024

We’re delighted and extremely proud to win the ‘Large Social Enterprise 2023 Award’ at the SEYH event held at York Hospitium on 7th March 2024. For the first time the Social Enterprise award was split into two categories due to competition and to give smaller organisations a fairer chance. Other categories included, Social Entrepreneur of the year, Tech for Good award, Environmental award, Social Impact award and Social Investment award (which HS4L won in 2015).

At the end of January, the finalists were announced and HS4L was nominated along with 2 other organisations, Spark York and Care Opinion.

As finalists we were able to take a few delegates and I was accompanied by Trinity Horn and Euan Ritchie on the night. We were seated on a table with representatives from both Spark York and Care Opinion as well as category sponsors Wrigleys Solicitors, who presented the award.

Judges commented, “Harrogate Skills for Living showed a continued commitment to providing exemplary care and support for people with learning difficulties and autism that clearly demonstrates positive social impact and excellent levels of client satisfaction. They have high standards of strategic management and leadership, clearly showing a desire to develop people and relationships both within, and externally to, the charity. Above all, they put the needs of their clients front and centre”.

Set in the context of an extremely challenging financial environment for charities and non-profit organisations, it was absolutely inspirational seeing so many individuals and organisations going the extra mile to meet their social objectives and overcome the challenges they’re facing day-to-day.

It’s rewarding and reassuring to know that whilst Harrogate Skills for Living continues to grow and meet increasingly diverse needs, the values and ethos of the charity remain firmly rooted in its daily culture.
