We want to say a huge congratulations to our CEO, Hadyn who completed the Windermere Lap at the weekend!
The Windermere lap is a beautiful 75K/47 mile, fully signposted trail ultra marathon, following some of the most stunning, runnable and best way-marked trails in The Lake District.
Our CEO said " I signed up for a 75km ultra as a 60th birthday challenge (to myself) in a moment of madness last year. To add a little extra motivation and help fundraise, albeit in a small way, I decided to raise money for my charity HS4L."
Hadyn successfully completed The Lap last weekend in the very hot September sunshine we have been having!
Hadyn said: "Well, it took longer than I’d hoped at 12 hours 39 minutes but with temperatures up to 25C and 80% humidity, I’m happy to have finished the 75km and 2645m climbing and descending around lake Windermere known as the LAP!
This event is put on twice yearly, in May (clockwise) and September (anticlockwise) and takes in some iconic hills such as, Wansfell, Gummers How, Loughrigg, Latterbarrow and a few lesser-known bumps on its meander around the beautiful lake.
Having hoped for a top 100 placing (out of 800 entrants) I was pleased with my 97th place and especially coming 5th in my age group (MaleVet60). Quite a few didn’t manage to finish largely due to the heat (80+ DNF’s) and the last finisher staggering back in 22 hours! Personally, I struggled with cramp and blisters which made the final 15km really hard – but I did it!
The support and encouragement from friends, family, colleagues, and others made a huge difference and I’d like to thank each and every one of you for this amazing support."
Here are a couple of snaps Hadyn took on Saturday!
Hadyn is so close to his £1000 target and any last minute donations would be greatly appreciated to help him reach his fundraising goal!
