Time to Talk Day 2021!

3 February 2021

Time to Talk Day 2021 takes place tomorrow - Thursday 4th February.

We understand how important it is to get everyone talking about mental health this Time to Talk Day!

This year’s focus is on the power of small, because however you have a conversation about mental health – whether it’s a quick text to a friend, a virtual coffee morning with colleagues, family or your friends, or a socially distanced walk and talk with your family – it has the power to make a big difference.

We believe that it is very important to talk about mental health and Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems. They have already reached millions of people and begun to improve attitudes and behaviour.

Despite progress made, we all know that many people still don’t consider mental health relevant to them. They don’t believe mental health problems are likely to affect them or people around them.

Around 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem this year yet the shame and silence can be as bad as the mental health problem itself. Your attitude to mental health could change someone’s life. This year and last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic it has proved a very challenging time for many people with an increase in mental health issues throughout the UK population.

Everyone at Harrogate Skills for Living Centre supports the Time to Change campaigns each year, as we understand that focus on challenging stigma and discrimination in society is needed.
