Staff and learners alike are incredibly proud of James Owen Thomas, a current learner on our Skills Bridge Preparation for Adulthood programme, who recently donated his original artwork, “Over the Rainbow” to his local NHS surgery Feastfield Medical Centre, Pateley Bridge.
James’ unique artwork combines his passion for nature and the environment, using waste materials to create beautiful landscapes, portraits and details of nature. The recent work “Over the Rainbow’ was inspired by the dedication of NHS staff and key workers throughout lockdown and the rallying support shown by people across the country.
James’ artwork has developed significantly over recent years but has remained true to his original goal; to create something meaningful from discarded materials. The majority of James’ work is created from used scratch cards collected within his local community. However, some work includes other waste materials, such as paper wrapping and ticket stubs.
James hopes that his art goes some way towards highlighting the issues of single use products and their impact on the environment.
Many of James’ artworks are available to purchase as originals, limited edition Giclée fine art prints or as greetings cards.
We currently have a range of James’ Christmas cards available for order, and on special offer, including the ‘Over the Rainbow’ piece.
